Medical Vein Clinic is led by Dr. John S. Hogg, a diagnostic and interventional radiologist with years of experience in minimally invasive procedures. Dr. Hogg’s education began at Baylor University where he graduated cum laude with a Bachelors in Business Administration in accounting and finance and went to work as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). While working as a CPA, Dr. Hogg came to the realization that he was being called into the medical field which would allow him to provide a greater service by directly helping people. So, he completed his undergraduate premedical curriculum at SMU, accepted a spot at Baylor College of Medicine and graduated four years later with a Doctorate in Medicine. Dr. Hogg’s residency was completed at Emory University in Atlanta, GA, in Diagnostic Radiology.
Dr. Hogg has been in private practice for 24 years. Following residency, Dr. Hogg served as the Radiology/Imaging Director at Sandersville Regional Medical Center in Georgia for 9 years. He then returned to Texas by taking a job for a radiology group in Austin, TX. His duties not only included reading diagnostic studies and performing image guided interventional procedures, but as a partner he was instrumental in growing the group into one of the largest radiology group in Texas with over 1000 employees. Dr. Hogg strives to provide the best care possible for his patients by explaining and making his patients feel as comfortable as possible in situations which may be stressful for them. He also stays current with the latest treatments and techniques by attending yearly conferences and reading the latest medical literatures.
Dr. Hogg is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is also an active member of the American College of Phlebology which is an association of healthcare professionals dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of venous disease, it is also considered a leading resource for vein care professionals.
Josue A. Medina is an interventional radiologist specializing in minimally invasive procedures. A former member of the U.S. Navy and life-long Texan, he began his educational career at Texas A&M in College Station, TX where he graduated summa cum laude and received his Bachelors of Science in Biochemistry. He then attained his Medical Doctorate from the Texas Tech Health Science Center School of Medicine in Lubbock, TX. After medical school he completed a Transitional internship at the Paul L. Foster School of Medicine in El Paso, TX. He then trained in Diagnostic/Interventional Radiology at the University of Tennessee Graduate School of Medicine in Knoxville, TN, followed by a Neuroradiology Fellowship at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, AL.
Dr. Medina has been in private practice since 2014. He initially began his practice in El Paso, TX but recently relocated to San Antonio, TX to open a practice with Dr. Hogg. Dr. Medina’s practice has been focused on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with venous disease and has performed more than 9000 procedures over the last 3 years. Dr. Medina specializes in minimally invasive procedures which include radiofrequency ablation, endovenous laser ablation, micro-phlebectomy, and ultrasound guided sclerotherapy. He strives to stay current with the latest techniques and treatment options by attending yearly vein conferences, reviewing the latest case studies and is a member of the American College of Phlebology.
Dr. Medina is board certified by the American Board of Radiology. He is also an active member of the American College of Phlebology and is also a diplomat of the American Board of Venous and Lymphatic Medicine.
