What to Expect

Steps of treatment

  • Initially you will receive an evaluation with one our skilled physicians. If indicated, your physician will order a duplex ultrasound to gain a better understanding of the internal anatomical variances, directional blood flow within the veins, and screening for blood clots. The ultrasound exam is painless and takes about 20 minutes to complete by specially trained Registered Vascular Technologist.
  • After results are determined, your physician will explain the diagnosis and treatment options in full detail.
  • Depending on your treatment plan, your physician will perform the appropriate procedure. Click here for an overview of all our venous procedures. Following treatment, all regular activity can be resumed immediately.
  • To ensure success and comfort after your procedure, you will have a follow up ultrasound exam. You will be informed on the success of the procedure the same day as the follow up ultrasound.

Treatments include:

  • Endovenous laser ablation (EVLA)- 94.2% effective in vein closure
  • Endovenous radio frequency ablation (EVRFA)-95.2% effective in vein closure
  • VenaSeal
  • Micro-phlebectomy
  • Sclerotherapy-80% success rate, this procedure is often paired with EVLA and EVRFA to bring the success rate to 96%
